Lost time

It's been two years since my last post and how things have changed. I still spend as much time with my daughter as I ca. I still sew and create as often as possible, which really isn't all that much. I still work and enjoy life. So what has changed? The ability to stop long enough to make note of what I've been doing. I've slowed up on other social websites considerably, however I do love me some Pinterest.

With Halloween around the corner it's time to start another costume. This year the wonderful and inspiring daughter has selected who else....Queen Elsa!!!! So yes, I will be attempting to make a wonderful work of art.

Since I've discovered there is an app for everything, I can now still work on my blog and get other things done as well. Like now, I should be getting some sleep, but why do that I can stay up and blog through the night.

I have some wonderful weekend adventures planned and so exited for cooler temps. I don't think it was as hot of a summer as in the past, so I really have no complaints at all.

Dragonfly beauty

Ahhhh finally done, well almost. I have completed the top, and I Love It!!! Looks just like I wanted, well actually prettier. Pictures probably do no justice, whatsoever. This was completed in 2 afternoons, however without a little high maintenance 6 year old, could be completed in one afternoon. Simple design, but I loved the fabric so much I didn't want to chop it up.
Wow...it even matches my daughters room...no this isn't hers. Somehow it will be mine, but I'm sure she will steal it from me.

Dragonfly in progress

Well it's finally in progress. Started tonight, found myself a short amount of quite time. I have about half of my friendship braid complete and everything else is already cut. Should have this together in no time. Yay!!!

Park day

It wasn't as hot of a day today, so a good day to go to the park. She has so much fun playing, and lots of new friends played with her too. Her favorite is the merry go round. Which is an all time favorite for so many kids.

Birthday and being sick

Well another birthday has passed, possible good for that. Took my sweet princess to Build a bear, where she picked me out a cute bear for my desk. Sooo sweet.





The following day we all got a nasty little stomach virus. Stayed in bed all day and all night. To the point your body hurts to get up or lay down.



But we are doing much better that day after and should be back to our ole self in no time. Good thing too, little princess wants to go to the park and I believe it's close to 100 outside. Oh joy!!!!!

Bath bombs!!!

Yes that is right, bath bombs. As known as bath fizzes, but to a child bath bombs. This started as a simple thing, as all projects do. Buy something at the store and then want to figure out how to do it cheaper, and maybe better. So let the search begin.

Found several good ideas on Pinterest, and I'm not sure where I ended up with mine, but it's a cross from several recipes I found on Pinterest and online. I wanted to use ingredients I could find, well that ended up being the challenge. See the main ingredient I needed was citric acid...after doing some research and was suppose to be found with the canning supplies, I went to several stores and nothing. I ended up at Lowes, having done a trusty search and found that my nearby store had in stock, or did they. I arrived and walked the store several times. Canning dept, canning dept...ok I've been in this store a hundred times, where is the canning dept. After giving up my each on my own, I finally asked. My wonderful sales associated found it on their computer and called a few people to find out the canning dept is now in back stock. Meaning they took the stuff they had and shrink wrapped it on a pallet and stuck it way up high on a shelf to collect dust. They didn't question my request, just got to work getting what I needed down and made me a happy person. Now with all my ingredients in hand...off we go to make something cool.






All common ingredients baking soda, witch hazel, food color, body oil, fragrance, and of course, citric acid.

I found a body oil with fragrance, so that made my list of items a bit shorted.

How I made them.....

1 part citric acid
2 parts baking soda

Crumble up and make into smooth mixture.

Add body oil, I just eyed it about 1/3 cup

Add a few drops of food color...I used a gel food color which worked fine for me. Avoid the liquid kind, as that will active your fizz.

Squish and mix well...very well.

Now the fun part...take the mixture and put into models, or make into balls which ever you like. Pack them really good, don't need any loose pieces on this. To get it packed really good, spray lightly with witch hazel, just a little but. Remember that liquids activate the fizz..




Oh this is a messy process. If you are a clean freak, you may not enjoy all this.. After you pack this real good, I would suggest the molds, since that worked much better for us. Pop out and start again.






I'm not sure how many we ended up with, but for around $20, we have enough to do this 4 times. It's worth it, and I think they work much better than store bought.

The oil in them leaves your skin super soft....NICE.

Simply a project I'm sure I'll do again, and gifts heck yes!!! Next time, I'll order my citric acid online, and not bother with the store hunting.

Baby, Babies, Babies

Hello everyone. Another app to try out. Just where would we all be without exploring apps, gadgets and all the new things each day. I'm one of those that likes to pretend I'm technologically advanced, but yet just learns a bit along the way. The app I was actually trying would only post the title and nothing else. Then come to find out there was a site linked to mine that had a virus so I needed to fix that. Well, if that wasn't enough I was posting on the wrong Facebook page....sigh....hopefully I've got some bugs worked out and can get on with the playing around and crafting. 😃

Well I have my work cut out for me, I decided that I would make baby quilts for our employees that are expecting. Much to my surprise, and others I'm sure that there would be 2 expecting moms. Well sure no big deal, I can handle 2 quilts. Then to find out that one is expecting twins....sigh...ok, ok, I can handle 3 quilts. Then my cousin is expecting now, dang 4 quilts oh this is getting out of control now. Sure hope that is all. I have to gather ideas, colors, what size I want them to be. So much in such little time. Sure hope they give me till October to get these done.

I'll be on the web and pinterest getting ideas.....so off I go.

Another day.....

Well another day is here, with so much to do and seems like so little time. I'm trying to learn to use all my techno items I have to get more things done. Pinterest anyone??? I have found that I love pinterest, so much to dive into. Great ideas for quilting, DIY projects, recipes and fitness motivation. Not that I have worked out much lately, which leads to many other issues.

A Wedding Gift...in progress

My beautiful niece is getting married in a couple of months.  I haven't come up with any ideas of what do to.  Generally I would make a quilt for her, but since my mom has gotten back into quilting, she is making her one.  So now I'm left with the what to do.  Just buy something from her registry? Make something else, but what?  She is a simple elegant young lady.  Has wonderful taste and style and I would like something that would reflect that her very classy side.  I need some great ideas.

Let's start blogging. Testing out a new app to blog! Hopefully this will be easy and fun to use. I really would like to keep this up sine I have so many projects going on for this year. 

I'm starting on many paths this year and plan on making many changes as well. Keeping myself busy is always my number one!! 

I'm also working on keeping myself more organized and helping my daughter.  She has been having a small amount of problems adjusting to Kindergarten.  So now she has a calendar, chores, and daily task to stick too. I felt bad at first, but remembered when I was her age I had a lot more than that to do. 

Irish Chain Finally Finished!!!

Well, it's been a while since I've posted anything.  Guess the Holiday season got the best of me.  With so many ways to post anything and everything to the online world, sometimes I forget about the simplest...my blog.

I many several quilts as gifts this past Christmas, that I'll try to get things updated and post those pictures.  In the mean time you can check them out on my Facebook page click here.

I have finally finished my first quilt to sell.  All my quilts have always been as gifts for various reasons, and just never had one to actually sell.  Until now...My mom has gotten back into quilting and even bought an awesome quilting machine.  Now it's time for me to get busy working on quilt tops and get them quilted while I spend time with my mom and dad.  Sounds like a great plan to me, and I'm sure my daughter will love that too.  Extra time with Grandma and Grandpa is always a treat.

I really liked this quilt and it went together nicely.  I like the colors the most...Dark Espresso Brown and lite sea blue.  So calming and looks great, if I say so myself.

I have it posted on Etsy and Funky Finds.  Really to see which site I like the most.  I don't think Funky Finds gets as much "foot" traffic, but Etsy has so much going on, that I think that many great items get "lost".

Got my sewing room all back together, computer back together. Sewing has begun again. Let's kick it in gear and get some projects done. Wedding gift first!!!!

Working on more designs.

As I was sitting at my computer, working on my daughters Christmas quilt. I thought it would be so much easier to design my block to embroider my design and then stitch out my block finished. I had a slight problem with the size I needed to complete, but hoping to have some samples finished up to show all. So far it's working great!!

Rapunzel for a day...

My little angel wants to be Rapunzel this year. As I was about to start designing from scratch, found the perfect pattern!

Her's will be purple of course, with some sparkle I'm sure and possibly some embroidery to make it so pretty. I'm sure she will LOVE IT!

Now to get the fabric, hopefully in the next couple of weeks. Need to get started and done Lots of other things hanging out to do.

In the Hoop Zipper Bag

I have completed my In the Hoop Zipper Bag (design available soon).  I have this completed as for birthday gift and made one for my daughter.  I'm thinking of making one for me to keep in my purse for all those misc things.    This is great, the entire bag is made in the hoop, so when it's done....It's done.  Just take off the stabilize and turn it right side out.

Embroidery Away....

I broke down and purchased new embroidery software. Floriani Total Control, well all I can say it's just a huge improvement from what I had previously and much less in price.  So it's been lots of play time for me getting to know the new software and how I can make some wonderful designs.  I've been creating designs and then testing afterwards to make sure I have everything just how I like it.

Here are a few of my test samples I have done.  I'm happy with the results right now and am continuing to do more and more.  Now I just need to know what to do with all the samples I am making.

Wrapped Candies

So I was in the mood to finally work on something Christmas.  I've had this block design on paper for a couple of years and finally put it into action.  I think it really looks great, if I say so myself.     I had originally made this as a gift, but I might have second thoughts on that and keep it for myself.  I generally don't keep any of the quilts I make, so maybe this can be the exception to that.

 I really think it turned out cute, my daughter liked it too.  Even makes me want some Gingerbread cookies to eat...yummmmm

Wrapped Candies

I've been working on this quilt design for a couple of years now.  While I have a couple of samples already stitched up, I'm just now getting around to putting it on my EQ7 to actually now what I'm doing.   I sure hope I get this finished up for this coming up Christmas.  It will be here before I know it.
My wrapped candies are being done in Michael Miller Fairy Frost to give them that pretty shimmer look that the pretty Christmas candies have.  I probably won't use candy canes in my embroidery, but was thinking of Gingerbread, since that is in the sashing fabric I have picked out.   I think it will be a nice wall hanging, but I'm sure I'll snuggle up with it on the couch.

Interesting things...

I find it interesting about myself, that I Love America, Independence Day and that my Birthday is on July 4th.  What could really be better??  But what I actually find interesting is that I have never made myself a quilt.  I have always wanted a Red,White and Blue quilt, so I think I'll start today.   Just have to find a design I want, fabric I really like and get to work.

A Little bit behind...

Seems like I haven't done much lately, but quite the opposite.  I'm working on getting my Etsy.com shop set up and that is much more work than I thought.  I probably won't be done with that for a few more weeks.   I have so many things I want to do, just finding the where to start and go place.  And off I go.....
